Tarsa Therapeutics, Inc. was founded in 2009 following the out-licensing of Unigene Laboratories, Inc.'s oral calcitonin program.
Tarsa is developing an oral formulation of calcitonin, a peptide hormone for the treatment of osteoporosis that slows the rate of bone destruction. The availability of an oral formulation is expected to generate wider use of this established osteoporosis treatment, which currently is available only in injectable and intranasal formulations. With promising Phase II data, the global Phase III clinical program for Tarsa's oral calcitonin is now underway. Tarsa is based in Philadelphia, PA.
