Domantis is a drug discovery company, which is exploiting its proprietary dominance in Domain Antibodies (dAbs) to deliver therapies which address large, unmet medical needs including inflammation (e.g. asthma and Crohn's disease), infection, cancer (solid tumours) and cardiac disorders.
dAbs are the smallest functional fragments of antibodies. They have very broad therapeutic relevance because they combine the advantageous diversity, high specificity and lower toxicity of full antibodies with the benefits of small molecule drugs, such as broad target range, multiple product formats, diverse formulations/delivery options and low cost microbial manufacture resulting in reduced cost of goods.
Domantis has a unique proprietary position in dAbs which means it is the only company capable of fully exploiting these molecules for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. The company was launched in December 2000 by Dr. Greg Winter (also co-founder of Cambridge Antibody Technology Plc) and Dr. Ian Tomlinson, who are globally recognised leaders in antibody technology.
